Congleton Climate Action

Climate Change refers to the long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural but since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels (like coal, oil and gas), which produces heat -trapping gases.

Climate Crisis refers to the serious problems that are being caused or are likely to be caused, by changes in the planets climate, including weather extremes and hazards, ocean acidification and sea-level rises, loss of biodiversity, food and water insecurity, health risks, economic disruption, displacemet and even violent conflict.

Greenhouse Gas emissions blanket the Earth, they trap the suns heat. This leads to warming and Climate Change. The world is now warming faster than at any point in recorded history.  Warmer temperatures over time are changing weather pattens and disrupting the usual balance of nature.

Climate Change is a threat to human wellbeing and the health of the planet. Any further delay in concerted global action will mess the brief, rapidly closing window to secure a liveable future.
